It was fast & easy obtaining the book on the computer with Richard Kong's help. I spent about 45 minutes trying to download a book but couldn't figure it out. Thanks a bunch, Richard!

Thing 9: Google Tools

The Google tools that I looked at were listed as follows: revisions, preview, print, e-mail, send document, save and close, and spell check. I think they all were useful, but the one that really stood out was the spell check because I always use this feature.

Thing 8: Wikis

I'm not sure of "radical trust" and wikis in general. I'm from the old school - I'd use the encyclopedia versus Wikipedia. I've heard that Wikipedia can contain false info so I wouldn't trust it to find info.

Thing 7 Podcasting

I listened to the Library Channel's Interview with William Sage & a Website: Our Ontario about Ontario''s libraries. I had a difficult time finding libraries that had podcasts to listen to. If you know what you're doing on the computer, podcasting can be a useful tool for SPL. Patrons would probably be interested in hearing about the latest updates of news stories. No, I don't have any other experience with listening to or creating podcasts.

6 day, 4 to go! I found del.icio.us very interesting & informative. I never knew such a website existed. I think most of the tags would be most useful for the Library, probably whatever the public is interested in.

I created a blog on Eons. It was fun & interesting. What makes them so popular is that if you have the time, you can meet new people on the site.

3 down, 7 to go! Google Talk was fun. I've never used any other IM programs before. I was surprised by how fast you can chat with someone & get a response so quickly. I think IM is a great mode of communication when you become more familiar with it by using it.

Boy, am I in the dark ages. Being as computer illiterate as I am, this sure was new and interesting stuff for me to learn! I enjoyed learning about RSS & the many feed readers that branch out from the RSS. At home I'll probably use the computer more & can't wait to show my family what I learned. The libraries can use RSS & take advantage of this new technology by being up to date on the latest on everything!
